Pet Storybook privacy policy
Last updated August 13, 2026. Pet Storybook is operated by Robert W. Carpenter under GQ Bunny Software. The app is intended for adult pet owners and does not offer child accounts, advertising, or a public gallery.
Pet photosUsed only to create your pet characterThe photo you choose or take is sent over HTTPS to the private Pet Storybook service and its AI image-processing provider. The server deletes the original photo when you approve the character, when creation fails or is canceled, or during automatic cleanup within 24 hours.
Story detailsYou decide how much to shareYour pet's name and any optional favorite food, activity, personality, habits, theme, and style are used to write and illustrate the story. In the detailed path, an adult may also add a person's first name, optional age, relationship/role, and story description; a family/group name and optional member names, ages, and roles; or a general story setting such as a street name without a house number, city or town, and state or region. No human photo is requested, and the app tells users not to enter a house number or full address. Optional details may be skipped. Temporary server copies are deleted after delivery or during cleanup within 24 hours.
AI service providersOpenAI helps create the book and narrationPet Storybook sends the selected pet photo, approved character, story instructions, page text, or narration text to OpenAI only as needed to provide the feature. Requests are configured not to be stored for model training by the Pet Storybook service. OpenAI processes this information under its applicable privacy and service terms.
Finished booksSaved on your deviceThe character, story, illustrations, pet profile, selected original photo, PDF exports, and generated narration are stored in the app on your device. They remain until you delete the story or pet, delete the app's data, or remove the app, subject to your Apple device-backup settings.
NarrationAI voice, prepared when you readPage text is sent securely to create the optional AI narration. Returned audio is cached with the local story for faster and offline replay. Pet Storybook does not retain a separate server copy of the narration audio.
Sharing and video exportYou choose when and where a finished story is sentYou can use Apple's share sheet to send a narrated MP4, PDF, or private Pet Storybook file through apps and services you select. A private book file contains the finished cover, illustrations, story text, dedication, and narration. It never includes the original uploaded pet photo, purchase history, page-credit balance, or API credentials. Pet Storybook does not operate a public sharing gallery or app-hosted messaging service.
PurchasesBilling is handled by AppleApple processes subscriptions and one-time page-credit purchases. Pet Storybook receives Apple-signed transaction identifiers, product details, purchase status, and a stable app transaction identifier so credits can be granted once and restored across devices. We do not receive or store your payment-card number.
Security and operationsLimited technical recordsThe service keeps random session credentials, one-way hashes of installation or Apple transaction identifiers, short-lived rate-limit records, and security logs needed to prevent abuse and reliably deliver paid generation. These records are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Printed booksSquare handles payment and Lulu fulfills the bookIf you choose to order a physical keepsake, Pet Storybook sends the recipient name, delivery address, email, phone number, quantity, and private print-ready book files only as needed to quote, collect payment, manufacture, deliver, support, and account for the order. Square hosts checkout, and Pet Storybook does not receive your complete card number. Lulu receives the book files through expiring signed links and uses the delivery details to print and ship the order. Order and transaction records are retained only as required for fulfillment, support, fraud prevention, tax, and legal obligations.
Accounts and trackingNo Pet Storybook login, ads, or analyticsThe app does not require a GQ Bunny account and does not include third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-app tracking. Apple may process App Store and device information under Apple's own policies.
Your controlsExport, share, or deleteAfter you answer the questions, Pet Storybook creates, saves, and opens the finished book without displaying the story text during generation. You can delete any saved story, delete a pet and all associated stories, export a PDF or narrated MP4, privately share a finished book, or delete the app. Contact support for privacy questions about temporary server or purchase records.
ChildrenAdult-operated, general-audience servicePet Storybook is intended for adults age 18 or older and does not create child accounts or request photos of children. An adult may optionally enter a child's first name, age, and boy/girl description solely to personalize a private story and must confirm that they are the parent or guardian or have permission to use those details. Age and description may be omitted. Those details are processed with the other temporary story instructions, are not used for advertising or profiling, and are deleted from the server after delivery or during cleanup within 24 hours. The finished story remains on the adult's device until the adult deletes it.
