DJ, Play That Song for Me privacy policy
Last updated July 18, 2026. This policy explains how the DJ, Play That Song for Me mobile app handles information.
Microphone
Used only when you ask the app to identify a song
The app listens only after you tap the listening control and stops after a match, an error, or cancellation. GQ Bunny Software does not record or store microphone audio.
Song recognition
Privacy-preserving ShazamKit matching
Microphone audio is processed transiently to create a compact, non-reversible audio signature for matching through Apple's Shazam service. Apple states that original audio is not shared with Apple and that audio signatures cannot be inverted. The app receives song details such as title, artist, genre, and music link when a match is found.
Recommendations
Generated on your device
Song suggestions are produced from a curated catalog included with the app. Recognized songs and listening history are not sent to an advertising or recommendation provider.
History
Saved only on your device
Recognized songs, manually entered songs, and songs you choose from suggestions may be stored in the app's local history. The history is not uploaded to GQ Bunny Software. You can remove entries in the app or remove all app data by uninstalling the app.
Accounts and advertising
No account, ad tracking, or analytics
The app does not require an account and does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or third-party analytics. The App Store and Google Play handle purchases and installation under their own terms and privacy policies.
Network requests
Recognition authorization and matching
The app contacts a GQ Bunny authorization service to receive a short-lived ShazamKit developer token, then communicates with Apple's Shazam service to match the non-reversible audio signature. Ordinary security logs may temporarily include technical details such as time, IP address, and app version. These logs are used only for security and reliable operation and are not sold.
Children
Not directed to children under 13
The app is a general-audience music utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children.
Your choices
Microphone access is optional
You may deny microphone permission and enter a song manually. You can change microphone permission in your phone settings and delete local app data at any time.
