Last updated October 4, 2026. This policy explains how the Decibel Meter & Sound Spectrum app handles information.
Microphone
Audio is analyzed on your device
The app processes microphone audio on your device to estimate sound level and calculate the spectrum. In version 3.0 and later, you can optionally record audio with a measurement session in AAC or WAV format. Recording starts only when you choose it. Recordings stay in the app’s local library; GQ Bunny Software does not receive or upload them. You can play, export, or delete them.
Camera and Photos
Used only when you choose the camera overlay
The optional camera overlay is processed on your device. A still image is saved to Photos only when you tap the shutter. In version 3.0 and later, you can also record video with microphone audio and a sound-level overlay. Videos are saved in the app’s local recordings library. Camera recording is never started automatically. GQ Bunny Software does not receive or upload images or videos.
Saved measurements
Sessions and calibration profiles stay on your device by default
Named sessions, samples, settings, calibration profiles, and Sound Check comparisons are stored locally so the app works as expected. Sound Check comparisons include both original readings and their settings; you can export a PDF or the original data using the system share sheet. You can clear saved sessions and delete calibration profiles in the app.
Optional iCloud backup
Off by default and stored in your private iCloud database
If you enable iCloud backup, saved sessions and named calibration profiles sync through Apple's CloudKit private database for your Apple Account. GQ Bunny Software does not operate a server for or have access to those private records. Sound Check comparisons and audio/video recordings are not included in this optional in-app sync. Recording files are excluded from device backup by the app. Export a copy if you want to keep a separate backup.
Purchases
Handled by Apple
The App Store processes Spectrum Pro monthly and annual subscriptions and the one-time Lifetime purchase, and provides verified purchase status to the app. Existing Lifetime purchases, active legacy weekly subscriptions, and unexpired legacy Seven-Day Pro Passes remain honored. GQ Bunny Software does not receive payment-card details. Website checkout is not used.
Accounts and tracking
No account, ads, analytics, or tracking
The app does not require an account and does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or third-party analytics.
Apple features
System services stay under your control
Local notifications, Live Activities, Apple Watch communication, sharing, and iCloud are provided by Apple system services and follow your device and Apple Account settings.
Support
You choose what to send
If you contact support, the support form uses the name, email, optional phone number, app version, and message you submit so GQ Bunny Software can respond. The app does not send a support request automatically.

Sharing is optional. Recordings are not attached automatically to measurement reports. When you export a recording or report, you choose the destination using the system share controls. The receiving app or service has its own privacy practices.
Mac, phone, and tablet microphone readings are estimates, not certified regulatory or medical measurements. Apple may process purchase, installation, iCloud, and diagnostic information under Apple's own privacy policies. GQ Bunny Software does not sell personal information.
